Air Purifier FAQs

The listing in the user manual is incorrect. The unit comes with two composite filters as follows:

Filter A: Pre-filter, HEPA filter, Antibacterial filter

Filter B: Active carbon filter, Cold catalyst filter

The Instruction Manual is being amended and will be available on the Bluemyst website.

There are five filters, but they are constructed as two composite filters, as follows:

Filter A: Pre-filter, HEPA filter, Antibacterial filter

Filter B: Active carbon filter, Cold catalyst filter

The Bluemyst Air Purifier has 5 filters, built as 2 composite filters, as follows:

Filter A: Pre-filter, HEPA filter, Antibacterial filter

Filter B: Active carbon filter, Cold catalyst filter

Here’s what each one does.

Pre-filter: Traps larger particles, preserving the HEPA filter from excessive wear and tear

HEPA Filter: An ultra-fine, randomly woven, mesh traps minuscule particles as small as 0.3 microns. To put that in perspective, the diameter of a strand of hair is 30 microns while a pollen particle is as small as 10 microns. The HEPA filter is excellent at trapping all physical matter, such as dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores and more.

Antibacterial Filter: A coated filter that prevents the buildup of bacteria inside the filter

Active Carbon Filter: Carbon has a unique atomic structure and when it is activated, it traps odors and contaminants inside its myriad nooks and crannies. It is great for trapping smoke and harmful chemicals.

Cold Catalyst Filter:  This filter causes a catalyst – or a chain reaction – within the atomic composition of harmful gasses and microscopic particles. This process oxidizes and deteriorates the chemical composition, rendering them harmless.

The sir purifier has been designed for stationary, residential use. We don’t recommend it for your car.

The air purifier is equipped with an active carbon filter which is excellent for adsorbing smoke odors and smoke particles.

Yes. The air purifier is equipped with a HEPA filter which is excellent at trapping minuscule particles as small as 0.3 microns. The HEPA filter is excellent at trapping all physical matter, such as dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores and more.

No. Once the filters reach their capacity, they will need to be replaced. They are not washable, either. On average, the filters have a lifespan of 3,000 operating hours. Once it reaches this limit, an alert light will illuminate, indicating that the filters need to be replaced. If you live in a heavily polluted or particularly dusty or smoky environment, then consider replacing the filters sooner.

On its lowest setting, the sound is 35 dBA, which is equivalent to a quiet library.

Formaldehyde, ammonia, toluene, xylene, hydrogen Sulfide, TVOC, anaerobic bacteria (serratia marcescens), and many other toxic fumes released from plywood, furniture, wallpapers, carpets, curtains, bedspreads, paints and the like.

Your air purifier arrives with the two composite filters still in their packaging, placed in the back of the purifier. CAUTION: Air filters MUST be removed from their packaging before operating the air purifier.

  1. Open the back cover of the purifier and take out the two packaged filters.
  2. Remove the filters from their plastic packaging.
  3. Insert the thinner filter into purifier. The black, circle-textured active carbon filter should face toward you, with the pull tab pointing outwards.
  4. Insert the wider filter into the purifier. The white meshed antibacterial filter should face toward you, with the pull tab pointing outwards.
  5. Replace the back cover. The air purifier is ready for operation.

The purifier has a CADR rate of 180 m3/hr which means it is best for a room up to 230 sq. ft.

It will take around 2 hours for the air purifier to cleanse a 200 sq. ft. room of impurities. But to maintain the air cleanliness, the purifier should be kept running on low while you are using the room.

Place your air purifier in a location with a good airflow, not enclosed in an alcove or against a wall. Additionally, avoid particularly damp or dusty locations as this will cause too much wear and tear on the filters.
